I'm not sure why that is, but if I had to guess I'd say a large factor is probably that in Japan guides are typically not licensed for one publisher only, which creates a lot of competition for selling the most appealing book. I've been collecting Zelda strategy guides and I came to realize pretty early on that the Japanese guides just completely outclass western guides in every aspect, from content, presentation, volume, quality of print/materials, and price. Japan actually tends to put a lot of effort into their strategy guides in general, and it's pretty common for major titles to have very large guides (although this one is especially large even for Japan, the larger ones I own typically do not break 500 pages).

this huge book is purely for the 3DS version, is there going to be one of similar size for the Wii U version? My friend might pick it up if there's enough interest, though he's somewhat casual, I don't know if I could see him tearing it apart and scanning something like 943 pages of hitbox frames, but I could see him checking some details and giving loose translations of specific things, and I'm sure he'd be fine with taking enough pictures to get a feel for what the book actually is. Even then that would leave a ton of pages, there's got to be some juicy info in here! Anyone have any clues about what's in this? Even in a worst case scenario(a page for each item?) I can't imagine a normal guide book having that many pages unless they perhaps had something like a single page for every single trophy. I didn't seem to find anything on this beyond a few Japanese book stores, Play-Asia and what my friend saw in person, sorry if I missed any posts about it on here. I casually asked if he saw the 50 facts about Smash thing, and he responded with having spotted what he joked was 1000 facts about Smash, a book that, with some online research, could be gotten for 27 dollars and features 943 pages of content. So, I was talking with a friend who's visiting Japan for a little while.
